Crystal Palace are set for a spell without their star man Wilfried Zaha after the forward suffered a hamstring injury in their 2-1 win at Newcastle.
Manager Roy Hodgson said he was unsure how long Zaha would be kept out, but ruled him out of their upcoming game against Leeds and said he could be missing for 'possibly much longer'.
The Eagles have always turned to the Ivory Coast international for goals and will miss his attacking presence on the pitch after netting nine times in the Premier League this season.
Speaking ahead of their trip to Elland Road, Hodgson confirmed the bad news around Zaha and admitted he is now 'scratching around' for a replacement.
'No, I'm afraid it's a hamstring injury. We don't know how long it will keep him out, but certainly this weekend and possibly much longer.
'It would be totally unrealistic to expect him to take part this weekend.
And we haven't had good news on others. From a good point, we're now scratching around for players who could fill in.'
The 28-year-old, who returned to Selhurst Park in 2017 after a failed spell at Manchester United, went down under a challenge from Newcastle defender Javier Manquillo as he attempted to speed past the Spaniard at St James Park on Tuesday.
Hodgson was unable to reveal the severity of Zaha's hamstring blow, but insisted the club's medical staff would do their upmost to get him back in action as soon as realistically possible.
'You never know,' he added. 'It's a muscle strain and they all take some sort of time to heal. Our people will do their best to get him out on the field as soon as possible.'
