Gianluca Di Marzio team's journalist Nathan Gissing: Raheem Sterling's camp did not release a standalone statement.
The Report:
It's now come to our attention that they responded with a comment to a Daily Mail article. With rumors circulating of an exclusion late last week, the camp directed media to the club who neither confirmed or denied the exclusion. The camp has no way of dictating the timing of a story. The Daily Mail ran the story as soon as they saw Sterling was absent from the team sheet. A player not being selected for a match does not need justification, Sterling's camp is asking for clarity and discussion around his future which, up to this point, has not taken place. Sterling has a good relationship with Maresca.
