Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck 'rolled back the years' with a sublime finish against Liverpool.

The Brighton forward added to Solly March's second-half brace to pour more misery on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

With ten minutes to go, the England international latched onto the end of flick-on from March, flicked the ball over Joe Gomez and volleyed home past a helpless Alisson in goal to make it 3-0.

There was nothing the Brazilian goalkeeper could do other than watch on as the 32-year-old wheeled away in celebration.

Welbeck then emulated Marcus Rashford's newfound celebration by pointing to his head in a move likely to make Man United fans smile.

Social media soon erupted with praise for Welbeck - whose injuries have often got in the way of his natural talent.

One fan said: 'Danny Welbeck rolling back the years'

Meanwhile another added: 'DANIEL WELBECK STOP THAT!!!!!!'

A third simply said: 'Oh wow, that's terrific from Welbeck.'

And a fourth posted: 'That’s unreal by Welbeck lmao'.

Welbeck's emphatic finish helped Brighton leapfrog Liverpool in the Premier League, moving up to seventh - just five points off the top four.

The sublime finish - which came on the striker's return after missing three games through injury - was Welbeck's first goal of the season.

Welbeck made his move to the Amex in 2020 after a short spell at Watford. The striker had previously spent five years at Arsenal after choosing to leave his boyhood club Man United due to a lack of game time.

The Brighton frontman will now hope to continue his scoring run in the second-half of the season.

The Seagulls come up against Premier League strugglers Leicester next, before they host Bournemouth.
