Manchester United 'are interested in Bournemouth winger David Brooks' as they search for potential alternatives to Jadon Sancho.
Though the Old Trafford club haven't given up on signing England star Sancho despite Borussia Dortmund's deadline for them to pay the asking price of £108million passing earlier this month.
But United are looking at other options, with the Manchester Evening News reporting that Brooks, 23, is one of the names on their radar.
They say United have not yet made official contact with Bournemouth but Brooks could be available for £40million following the Cherries' relegation from the Premier League.
Brooks has reportedly been seen as a potential summer option by United for a while with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to improve the depth of his squad.
It comes after a season that saw United finish third in the Premier League and secure Champions League football for next season but also exit at the semi-final stage of three cup competitions.
Their season only ended on Sunday night with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League semi-final, leaving Solskjaer limited time to reshape his squad ahead of the new season starting on September 12.
Brooks, a Wales international, plays as a right-sided winger or forward and impressed during his first season with Bournemouth after completing an £11.5m move from Sheffield United in the summer of 2018.
He missed the majority of least season because of an ankle injury suffered in a pre-season friendly against Brentford that saw him requiring an operation.
Brooks only returned to full training with Bournemouth in March and returned to Eddie Howe's team following the coronavirus shutdown, playing nine league matches and scoring one goal.
But he couldn't prevent Bournemouth's five-season stay in the Premier League coming to an end and they will have to sell some of their squad assets to reduce their wage bill for the Championship next season.
It is thought Solskjaer could consult the advice of his former United team-mate and current Wales manager Ryan Giggs on Brooks as he did before signing Daniel James from Swansea City a year ago.
At 23, Brooks ticks many of the boxes Solskjaer is looking for in a player - young, speedy and skillful.
United's negotiations with Dortmund over Sancho, 20, have reached an impasse with the player on a pre-season training camp with the German club.
The clubs appear to be some way apart in their valuation of the forward with United insisting the £108m asking price is too high in the current economic climate.
