Deeney: Reece James' new contract likely sparked Enzo and Cucurella outburst

  /  RichardYan

Recently, Deeney talked about Enzo and Cucurella's recent words and deeds in his personal "The Sun" column.

Troy Deeney's report on Enzo and Marc:

Chelsea's Argentine midfielder Enzo and Spanish left-back Cucurella both took advantage of the international match day to attack their teammates and openly engage in infighting.

Perhaps these two are saying what all Chelsea fans think, and perhaps some things should be said. But what is undeniable is that their behavior is very despicable. Do they dare to wear the Chelsea jersey and speak directly to the British media?

They don't dare. These two behaved like turtles, specializing in speaking out in situations where there is no accountability pressure and the club has no control.

Enzo and Cucurella, under the cover of the national team, complained a lot about the club's decision to sack Maresca and the direction of the team's operations.

And these two are still regarded as Chelsea's core players. But this is not responsibility, it is just empty talk of shirking responsibility and selfishness.

They probably all think that after the team's four-game losing streak before the offseason, even if the situation continues to deteriorate when they go back, they can put on a "I told you so" attitude.

They can say that they opposed the dismissal of Maresca, and that everything was better at that time. But this position itself is untenable.

First of all, players will not and should not be consulted on the club's decision to sack Maresca. More importantly, it is this group of players who personally pushed Chelsea into the quagmire it is in today:

Was everything really better when Maresca was in charge? If so, why did you lose to Brighton, Sunderland and Aston Villa at home?

After winning two insignificant trophies last season, they became inflated and now want to tamper with the true situation when the Italian coach was in charge.

For two years, there has been hype that Chelsea has unlimited potential, a young lineup is full of vitality, and is destined to reach the top. But since the pressure increased sharply after Christmas, this so-called talented team began to collapse. These so-called core players exposed their selfish side.

Enzo and Cucurella are undoubtedly important players for the team and are very talented. The fuse for the two's attack was probably because Reece James got a new contract.

This Chelsea captain is undoubtedly the best player in the team as long as he can play. But his attendance problem has emerged again - this 26-year-old player just signed a six-year long-term contract, and then suffered a hamstring injury.

James has performed well for Chelsea, but his appearances in the past two years are far less than Enzo and Cucurella. Because of this, both of them are calculating where their new contracts are, which is what players really care about.

They know that James is very talented, but as long as he can't play, it is meaningless to them. The 27-year-old Cucurella got a salary increase last year, but did not renew his contract. Enzo is waiting to see the contract renewal negotiations, and at the same time publicly shaking his future.

This is a microcosm of the chaos at Chelsea under the current management. The club has many owners, directors and senior executives, but there is almost no authority and accountability mechanism. I can't see anyone in the team who will severely stop them and make them correct their attitude after the two return this week.

When I was the captain, if my teammates did such a thing, I would tell the coach not to blow the whistle during training, and I would tell them my true thoughts mercilessly whenever I had the opportunity.

Manager Rosenior's decision to remove the 25-year-old Enzo from the squad and prevent him from playing in tomorrow's FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale and next week's Premier League match against Man City may finally make him start to pay attention to accountability issues.

But in such a club that is constantly plagued by internal friction and only creates noise instead of calming the storm, the problem has long been deeply rooted.
