Denis Suarez confirms he won't be able to play this season due to groin issues

Denis Suarez has confirmed he will not play again this season after suffering a groin injury in Arsenal's Europa League game against BATE Borisov.

The 25-year-old joined the north London club on-loan from Barcelona in January but has found his time at the Emirates curtailed by a groin complaint.

He failed to make a single start for the club and has played just 67 minutes worth of football in the Premier League.

Suarez, who is paid £55,000 per week by the Gunners, revealed the news in a statement on Twitter.

'I will not be able to play again this season,' said Suarez.

'Some issues with my groin have made things tough since the game against BATE in the Europa League in February and now they have forced me to stop training altogether.

'I am sorry for all the effort and sacrifice made to come to Arsenal hasn't come to fruition as hoped and you can't even imagine how angry I am about it, but health comes first.'

The Spaniard's ill-fated loan-spell instantly brings to mind the dismal January acquisition of Kim Kallstrom back in January 2014.

The Swede famously struggled with a back injury after signing on loan from Spartak Moscow under Unai Emery's predecessor Arsene Wenger.

But even he managed to play more minutes for the Gunners than Suarez, racking up a comparatively enormous 135 minutes for the club.
