After the tricolor victory in Iceland (1-0) in the qualifiers of the Euro 2020. Deschamps reveals he has no personal problem with Karim Benzema in a documentary broadcast on TF1.
Benzema is still effective at Real Madrid, he has not been summoned to the French team since October 2015, nearly four years.
"It's a sporting choice, no point, I think it's not a good thing for the France team," the coach said in his TF1 documentary. "I consider things in relation to the France team and what this jersey represents".
"The ouster of Benzema seems yet intimately linked with the legal disputes of the Real Madrid striker, including the case of the sex tape of Mathieu Valbuena."
"But obviously, this is not the main reason for his absence in the French team," Deschamps said.
"There can be many versions but only one truth, I have a lot of trouble with those who want to make believe that it's the truth," said Deschamps to the attention of those who accuse him of racism in the Benzema dossier.
"I am not in football for that," he added.
