EPL Team of the Week: Arsenal players star after securing second place

The penultimate round of Premier League fixtures saw lots of top performances from players across the division, with several making our Team of the Week.

Arsenal secured a second-place finish after defeating Newcastle 1-0, while champions Liverpool suffered a shock 3-2 loss away at Brighton.

Elsewhere, Everton bid farewell to Goodison Park with an emotional 2-0 win over Southampton, and FA Cup runners-up Manchester City bounced back with a 3-1 triumph over Bournemouth.

Speaking of the FA Cup, winners Crystal Palace showed no sign of any hangovers with an emphatic 4-2 victory against Wolves.

GK - David Raya, 7.5 (Arsenal)

David Raya made a series of top saves in Arsenal's 1-0 win over Newcastle, helping his side secure a second-placed finish once again in the Premier League.

The goalkeeper also kept his 13th clean sheet of the campaign to draw level with Nottingham Forest's Matz Sels in the race for the Golden Glove.

DEF - James Justin, 8.3 (Leicester)

Despite already being relegated, Leicester put in a superb performance against fellow bottom-three side Ipswich in what was the legendary Jamie Vardy's final game for the club.

James Justin stood out for the Foxes with an assist for the aforementioned Vardy in the first half, setting up the striker's 200th and final goal for the club.

The defender was also instrumental in helping keep a clean sheet and seeing out a 2-0 victory.

DEF - Nikola Milenkovic, 8.1 (Nottingham Forest)

Nottingham Forest secured a much-needed 2-1 win against West Ham to keep their hopes of finishing in a Champions League place alive.

Nikola Milenkovic scored what turned out to be the winning goal with an excellent header midway through the second half, getting a deft flick on a teasing delivery from Anthony Elanga.

DEF - Jakub Kiwior, 8.2 (Arsenal)

Jakub Kiwior has quietly impressed since becoming a regular fixture in Arsenal's defence and was excellent once again in the win over Newcastle.

The defender made an impressive four tackles, two interceptions and 11 clearances in a match where the Gunners often found themselves under considerable pressure from the visitors.

DEF - Neco Williams, 8.4 (Nottingham Forest)

Another one of Forest's top performers was Neco Williams, who stood out for his defensive work in the victory over West Ham.

Williams won a staggering 11 duels and made eight tackles, six clearances and four interceptions to earn the highest rating of the match.

MID - Kaoru Mitoma, 8.2 (Brighton)

Brighton recorded an impressive 3-2 win over champions Liverpool on Monday evening, with Kaoru Mitoma netting the initial equaliser at the Amex Stadium.

The winger was brought on just after an hour and scored within five minutes of his introduction in a performance that helped shift momentum in the Seagulls' favour and secure a vital win in their push for European football.

MID - Declan Rice, 8.2 (Arsenal)

Declan Rice netted the winning goal in Arsenal's 1-0 win over Newcastle, curling in a spectacular first-time effort from the edge of the area.

The Gunners put in a gritty performance to secure second spot and again looked to Rice to make the difference, which the Englishman did in emphatic fashion.

MID - Brajan Gruda, 8.2 (Brighton)

Brajan Gruda was a surprise starter in Brighton's win over Liverpool and proved his worth with a top performance in midfield.

The German assisted Yasin Ayari's first-half strike and continued to have an attacking threat throughout the match with three successful dribbles and nine touches in the opposition box.

MID - Ben Chilwell, 8.2 (Crystal Palace)

Crystal Palace played a heavily rotated side for their 4-2 win against Wolves following a historic FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

One standout was Ben Chilwell, with the Chelsea loanee netting the Eagles' third at the start of the second half after his free-kick took a deflection and found the net for his first goal of the season. 

FWD - Eddie Nketiah, 8.5 (Crystal Palace)

Another standout performer for Crystal Palace was Eddie Nketiah, who broke his goal drought with a brace against Wolves.

The striker has struggled since arriving at Selhurst Park but netted twice in five minutes on Tuesday evening in a Player of the Match performance.

FWD - Iliman Ndiaye, 9.0 (Everton)

This week's top-rated player by some distance was Everton's Iliman Ndiaye, who netted twice in the Toffees' final game at Goodison Park.

Everton bid farewell to their iconic stadium with a 2-0 win over Southampton and Ndiaye wrote his name in the history books by bagging the final ever goal scored by the men's team at the Stadium.

His 9.0 rating was the highest of anyone across the weekend, making Ndiaye our Premier League Player of the Week.
