According to the latest report by ESPN journalist Rob Dawson, Manchester United plan to speak with Bruno Fernandes before the World Cup, hoping he will stay for at least one more year.

It is reported that Manchester United intend to hold talks with their captain, Bruno Fernandes, before the World Cup, during which club executives will inform the Portuguese midfielder that they hope he remains at Old Trafford for at least another year.

Bruno Fernandes nearly joined Al-Hilal last summer, and further interest in the Portuguese international is expected when this season ends; Manchester United will allow the 31-year-old player to decide his next move himself.

However, the club would prefer to retain their captain during yet another transitional summer ahead, as a new permanent head coach is set to arrive. Fernandes’s contract runs until 2027, with an option for an additional one-year extension that could keep him at the club until June 2028.

According to sources, Manchester United will ask Fernandes and his representatives to clarify their intentions regarding his future before the World Cup, although the player himself has stated he will only make a decision after the tournament concludes—yet United hope to finalize their transfer plans earlier.

Most of Manchester United’s summer budget has already been earmarked for midfield reinforcements, with Elliott Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Balogun among their primary targets; if Fernandes departs, the club will also need to find a replacement.
