Egypt vs Sudan: AFCON times, TV and how to watch online

  /  autty

All the info you need to know on how and where to watch the final AFCON Group D match between Egypt and Sudan at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Wednesday 19 January.

Egypt have picked up three points from their opening two AFCON games in Group D. Mohamed Salah's second half goal against Guinea-Bissau saw them claim all three points after their opening game defeat to Nigeria on 11 January. They now only need to avoid defeat on Wednesday to qualify for the knockout stage.

The Pharaohs are unbeaten in each of their last eight matchday three games of a group stage at the Africa Cup of Nations, winning six and drawing two since a 1-0 defeat to Morocco in 1998 edition. This will be the sixth encounter between Egypt and Sudan at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sudan are bottom of Group D but know a win over Egypt would likely propel them into second with Guinea-Bissau facing group leaders Nigeria in the other match. Sudan have had fewer shots (15) and registered a lower expected goals total (1.25) of any side in Group D at this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt's AFCON record

Egypt have won the tournament seven times and are the most successful team in the history of AFCON. In attack, they have arguably the best player in the world right now, Mohamed Salah. Led by former Manchester United coach, the experienced Carlos Queiroz, they will be tested as the tourmament progresses, provided they do get out of the group. A win over Sudan will see them advance with six points from the three games.

The big question is will they have enough to win their eighth tournament? Egypt haven't won the tournament since 2010 and Salah will be looking for his first ever AFCON trophy. Sudan sit bottom of the group, with a goal difference of minus two, meaning a minor miracle is needed if they are to progress to the next round of AFCON.
