England vs Switzerland players rating: Harry Kane and Marc Guehi shine

  /  autty

Harry Kane came to England's rescue once more on Saturday as he converted a second half penalty to hand his side a 2-1 victory against Switzerland.

Gareth Southgate's men had to come from a goal down, but strikes from Luke Shaw and Kane completed the comeback.

With just eight months to go until the World Cup, the clash against Switzerland was an opportunity for players to book their tickets to Qatar. Sportsmail's Sami Mokbel was at Wembley to run the rule over who are guaranteed to go and who will be left sweating.

ENGLAND (3-5-2)

JORDAN PICKFORD, 7 - Made two crucial saves in the first-half to keep England in the game. Southgate’s undisputed No 1.

On the plane.

BEN WHITE, 6 - A late replacement for John Stones, who was injured in the warm-up but was at fault for Embolo’s opener after getting caught under the ball.

In departures.

CONOR COADY, 6.5 - The elder statesman in England’s defence. Organised those around him efficiently and was economical in possession.

On the plane.

MARC GUEHI, 7.5 - Ticked all the boxes for Southgate. The central defender showed maturity beyond his years. Has a big future ahead of him.

On the plane.

KYLE WALKER-PETERS, 7 - Crucial to England’s equaliser and turned in a more than capable display. But for all intents and purposes, he is fifth choice right back.

Stays at home

CONOR GALLAGHER, 7 - A busy a performance on his full international debut and bagged an assist to top off a promising day’s work.

In departures.

JORDAN HENDERSON, 6.5 - Needed all his experience in the first half as Switzerland dominated - but ensured England regained a foothold in midfield.

On the plane.

MASON MOUNT, 6 - Couldn’t impact the game the way he’d have liked as the Swiss, particularly in the first half, caused England problems.

On the plane.

LUKE SHAW, 7 - After a tough time with illness and injury his latest Wembley goal will do the left-back’s confidence the world of good.

On the plane

PHIL FODEN, 6.5 - Employed as a central striker with Kane, but didn’t have impact we’re accustomed to. Yet his closing down was key in England’s leveller.

On the plane

HARRY KANE, 7 - Another goal closer to the inevitable. Only a matter of time before he overtakes Wayne Rooney’s all-time record of 53. What a player.
