Erik ten Hag 'sorts Roy Keane out with complimentary Carabao Cup final tickets'

Erik ten Hag has reportedly stayed true to his word by sorting former Manchester United captain Roy Keane out with Carabao Cup final tickets.

Ten Hag's Red Devils breezed past Nottingham Forest 5-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals to set up a trip to Wembley against Newcastle next Sunday.

After the second leg at Old Trafford, Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League winning captain Keane, now a pundit on Sky Sports, attempted to sway his way into some free tickets for the upcoming final during Ten Hag's post-match interview.

The United boss was interviewed pitchside after the whistle, with Keane taking the opportunity to check whether his influence was still recognised at the club under the new manager's reign, asking: 'Do you have any spare tickets for the final? Just two, two complimentary tickets?'

Fortunately, the good-spirited Reds boss was happy to oblige as he replied amongst a panel of laughter: 'I can. I think so Roy. No problem.'

And now, according to The Sun, Keane will be heading to Wembley, courtesy of Ten Hag's complimentary tickets.

A source said: 'The manager promised Roy some tickets and has made sure he will get them.

'No one at the club has more than a couple to give to family and friends so it is a lovely gesture by Erik.

'He respects Roy for his incredible playing career and isn't fazed by the directness of his punditry.'

There's no doubt Keane would have been able to grab a seat at Wembley, but it is a classy touch from the United boss.

Ten Hag has rejuvenated Manchester United since arriving in the summer. In fact, United are the only English side still in four competitions.

Before the Carabao Cup final, United have the small matter of a Europa League play-off second leg against Barcelona just three days before.

United have been boosted by Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope picking up a red card against Liverpool ahead of the final. And with second choice Martin Dubravka having already featured for United in the Carabao Cup, Eddie Howe will need to select Loris Karius or Mark Gillespie.

Ironically, if Manchester United triumph, Dubravka will pick up a Carabao Cup winners medal.
