Jadon Sancho has emerged as the most talked about England player during Euro 2020, heightened by his £73m transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United.

The winger, who has only started once in the tournament for Gareth Southgate's side so far - in the quarter-final win against Ukraine - has had more than 40,000 tweets mention his name, amid a 290 per cent increase since the first game against Croatia.

Completing the top-three are captain Harry Kane at No 2 and star forward Raheem Sterling at No 3, with a 131 and 743 per cent increase respectively.

Following the top-three in the list is Jack Grealish at No 4 - who was surprisingly subbed as a substitute in the semi-final win against Denmark on Wednesday night.

A surprise name at No 5 in the list is Kalvin Phillips, who has started every game and has seen a 747 per cent increase in mentions on the social media platform.

Yet out of the whole top-10, the biggest increase since before the tournament has been tweets including Jordan Pickford's name, with the goalkeeper seeing a massive 1,299 per cent increase in activity.

Other members of Southgate's squad in the top-10 include Mason Mount, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.

Meanwhile, left back Luke Shaw has been deemed the 'most favourable player on Twitter' with 24 per cent of tweets involving his name signing his praises.

He is followed in this list by midfielder Jordan Henderson and right back Kyle Walker, whose tweets have been positive by a means of 16 per cent each.

Southgate's squad can only expect the interest online to increase in the coming days, after England reached their first major tournament final in 55 years following the extra-time triumph against Denmark last night.

They face Italy in Sunday's final, on an occasion which is sure to have the whole country captivated by the events that unfold at Wembley.
