Everton boss Frank Lampard favourite to be next sacked Premier League manager

Everton manager Frank Lampard is the bookies' favourite to be the next Premier League boss to be sacked, overtaking West Ham's David Moyes after the latest round of fixtures.

Now the top-flight is back in full swing after the winter break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, there is plenty of managers being put under pressure to perform, and pull their respective sides away from the relegation zone.

The Toffees were brought back down to earth as they were thrashed 4-1 by Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening after picking up a respectable 1-1 draw against Manchester City on the weekend.

The former Chelsea midfielder Lampard is as short as 1/4 to lose his job after his side's worrying run of form, via oddschecker, having failed to win in their last six Premier League matches, forcing them into the lower realms of the league table.

Everton currently sit in the relegation zone in 18th place - level on points with 17th placed West Ham United while only a point or two ahead of both Wolves and Southampton that are below them.

If Lampard is to get sacked he would become the sixth to lose his job so far this season, along with the likes of Scott Parker (Bournemouth), Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea), Bruno Lage (Wolves), Steven Gerrard (Aston Villa) and Ralph Hasenhuttl (Southampton).

Elsewhere, West Ham boss Moyes remains under intense pressure to turn their fortunes around, as much like Everton the Hammers are also winless in six top-flight fixtures.

Earlier this week the Scotsman was the bookies favourite and his odds still are as short as 6/1, given they were held to a 2-2 draw by Leeds United on Wednesday evening.

The Hammers have enjoyed success in recent seasons and even qualified for Europe in the last two campaigns, but they now sadly find themselves sitting in 17th place, and in awful form.

Two new managers have surged into the top five tipped to leave their clubs alongside Lampard, Moyes and Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers in the form of Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil and Southampton boss Nathan Jones.

Foxes boss Rodgers - who has odds of 12/1 - is still among the favourites to get axed, given they've lost all three of their matches since the World Cup break, including a narrow 1-0 loss to Fulham this week.

Recently appointed Southampton manager Jones is perhaps the surprise name in the top five managers likely to be sacked, given he only arrived just prior to the international break.

The former Luton boss is already at odds of 12/1, despite only being appointed by the Saints in early November.

It has been a disaster start to life at St Mary's for Jones after falling to win in any of his opening four Premier League matches in charge, which has seen the club fall to the foot of the league table.

The Cherries started brightly under O'Neil when he took over following the sacking of now Club Brugge manager Scott Parker.

But things are starting to go sour, as they have just one win in their last six matches, the latest being a heavy 3-0 defeat to Manchester United in mid-week - meaning his odds have fallen to 16/1.

Further out, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte (20/1) and Chelsea manager Graham Potter (33/1) are not out of the woods with inconsistent form, leaving them in a chase to get into the Premier League's top four.

Conte's comments that Spurs need a miracle to claim Champions League football next season will not sit well with chairman Daniel Levy, who is historically not afraid to pull the trigger.

Spurs did bounce back with a huge 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening to put them within touching distance of the top four, but the Italian's new contract talks are still stalling with fears the club is not ambitious enough.

Graham Potter much like Nathan Jones fairly new to his job, having only been appointed as Chelsea manager in September to replace Thomas Tuchel.

But it hasn't been a hugely promising start to life at Stamford Bridge, winning just four matches out of 11 in the Premier League and suffering some shock defeats to Aston Villa, Newcastle and Brighton - with his side also beaten by Manchester City.

It is unlikely that new owner Todd Boehly will axe his man yet after making such a statement by sacking Tuchel to bring the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager in.

But despite that his odds are as low as 16/1 while Leeds manager Jesse Marsch is another outside at 25/1 as they continue to flirt with the relegation zone.
