With bragging rights on Merseyside very much with Liverpool so far this season, Everton have the opportunity to silence their bitter rivals on Wednesday night.
The Toffees host Manchester City in the Premier League at Goodison Park knowing a defeat will see City leapfrog Liverpool on goal difference at the top of the Premier League standings.
And while no fan ever wants to see their side lose, some Evertonians have joked that they would take the hit if it meant denting Liverpool's title hopes.
After Liverpool dropped points at West Ham on Monday night, one Twitter user stated that City would do likewise at Everton - prompting this response from an Everton fan: 'If we get something... Silva has to go.'
@Is_Right rather tongue-in-cheek quipped what his desired Everton XI would be. Those included were a corner flag, Lucozade bottle and the infamous Black Cat that temporarilty stopped play during their 3-1 home defeat by Wolves on Saturday.
@efctoffee77 said he 'won't be be impressed if we decide to turn up Wednesday!!' while @__Evertonfc__ uploaded a meme reading 'Give it back, now!' to reflect his mood when 'Everton intercept one of City's 275848267 passes on Wednesday.'
However, not every Evertonian was in this jovial mood. @NubiBlue called for his side to win the match and hurt Liverpool's title hopes by beating them in the Merseyside derby when they meet on March 3.
'For those fans wanting us to lose to City, remember we still have to play our neighbours, and that should be our time to stop them from winning the league,' he wrote.
'The bigger picture is an improved Everton, not about a single season around the fortunes of another team.'
