Everton's Alli 'flying to Istanbul for medical with Besiktas' ahead of loan

Dele Alli is closing in on an exit from Everton as he is reportedly set to sign for Turkish side Besiktas ahead of a season-long loan deal that will include the option to buy.

The former Tottenham star has struggled to re-ignite his best form at Goodison Park after moving there in January, and he could be about to move to his third club this year.

The 26-year-old is set to fly to Istanbul on Wednesday ahead of a medical on Thursday in order to seal the move to Besiktas, according to The Athletic.

The report suggests that the deal will give Besiktas the option to buy Alli from Everton in January and at the end of the season.

Alli fell down the pecking order at Tottenham after being one of the club's star players under Mauricio Pochettino, but failed to continue his form during spells with Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte in charge.

This failure saw him join Everton on a free transfer, but in his 13 appearances for the club he failed to find the net.

This season Alli has made two appearances in the Premier League, with both as a second-half substitute with manager Frank Lampard not trusting him with a starting berth.

Alli was not in the squad during the Toffees Carabao Cup win over Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night as talks over his future were taking place.

The former England player has 37 international caps, but he has not played for Gareth Southgate's side since 2019.
