Ivan Perisic has torn into his PSV teammates ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Arsenal, while firing a subtle dig at the Gunners.

The Dutch side take on Mikel Arteta’s men in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday, the first leg taking place in the Netherlands. And former Spurs star Perisic will come up against a host of familiar faces after spending 18 months in London following his arrival from Inter Milan.

The Croatian veteran has certainly had plenty to say ahead of the game, with even his own teammates not being safe from criticism. Speaking on Monday, Perisic said: "We are not a team.

"We are not doing well. We should be more of a team, which we are not now. We are not fighting for each other and that makes me angry.

"We need to change that quickly. We need to give everything until the end of the season, because it is far from over.

"Why are we not a team? We talked about that. We create enough chances and score enough, but without the ball we need to do better. We need to fight and run for each other."

PSV are currently the top scorers in the Eredivisie having netted 73 times this term but still find themselves eight points behind Ajax in the race for the title. And while Perisic has torn into his own team, he still found time to fire a dig at Arsenal.

He added: “Arsenal often lacked that one bit to win something last year. It will be a tough game against a young team with a strong coach. But I believe in our team and we have to play at our best. When you hear the Champions League anthem, it gives something special.”

Meanwhile, PSV boss Peter Bosz has also given his thoughts on the game. He has claimed that while his side’s disappointing displays are a topic of conversation, the Dutchman has also praised them for going as far in the Champions League as they have.

"There are a lot of small things that are now preventing you from winning, but those small things are important," he said. I understand that PSV's decline is now bigger news than the match we will play against Arsenal tomorrow, but that’s a great shame for football fans. We are among the best 16 in Europe. It is impressive that we are here."
