Former Liverpool goalkeeper Paul Jones has looked backed on his bizarre 21-day emergency loan move to the club in 2004.
The ex-Wales international made the switch from Southampton to Liverpool on a one-month loan deal to help solve a goalkeeping crisis at Anfield.
Liverpool's No 1 Jerzy Dudek suffered an injury to join Chris Kirkland on the treatment table, meaning Patrice Luzi was the only available shot-stopper.
Jones has opened up on why he made the short-term transfer 16 years ago at the age of 36.
'I just had a smile on my face from the minute I spoke to Gerard Houllier, just buzzing and couldn't believe it,' Jones told Liverpool's official website.
'It was just a no-brainer for me. What an opportunity. I was late 30s then and I'd never get the opportunity again, I'm sure.
'It was just the opportunity to play for Liverpool – I don't care if it's one game.'
Jones made just two appearances for the Reds in a spell that lasted just 21 days. Following his time at Southampton and Liverpool Jones went on to join Wolves.
