FA staff will be forced to move out of Wembley for Euro 2020, Sportsmail can reveal.
The FA informed their own staff at the national stadium on Thursday, creating a huge logistical headache ahead of this summer’s championship.
European football’s governing body are due to move into Wembley — which will host seven matches at the Euros, including both semi-finals and the final — on May 27, 16 days before the tournament begins.
There is office space at the FA’s national football centre in St George’s Park, Burton-upon-Trent, but getting there poses major travel difficulties for southern-based staff.
Members of the Wembley workforce will therefore have no option but to work remotely, probably from home.
The temporary move raises several IT concerns, but the FA are confident their current cyber security measures can cope with staff working off site.
An FA spokesman told Sportsmail: ‘FA staff based at Wembley Stadium will not be required to move out immediately when UEFA’s exclusive tenancy agreement begins on Wednesday May 27.
‘However, in line with UEFA tournament hosting protocols, those who are not directly involved in the delivery of Euro 2020 — around 35 per cent of the FA’s total workforce — will be required to work off site on for a number of days throughout the tournament.
‘All affected staff are fully equipped to work remotely with access to all FA systems and services.’
