Liverpool have handed Fabio Carvalho the number 28 shirt at Anfield after officially unveiling him as their new signing on Sunday.
Carvalho's arrival on Merseyside has been a long time coming, as the Reds tried to sign him on the final day of the January transfer window.
They were unable to complete a deal on that occasion, but six months later they have finally got their man, and Carvalho has expressed his delight at joining Jurgen Klopp's side.
'It’s just an amazing feeling to be here at one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest. So, I’m just happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started,' Carvalho told Liverpool's official website.
'Once you hear that Liverpool are interested, there’s only one thought in your mind, which is to join them and try to be in and around the team. Hopefully I can achieve big things.
'I spoke with everyone, and the manager, and it just felt so natural. When things become natural it’s just so much easier to make a decision.'
Carvalho will wear the number 28 next term, having taken this shirt off Ben Davies, who has been given the number 24 jersey.
The 19-year-old had a breakthrough campaign at Craven Cottage last term, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in the Championship, playing a key role in the team's title triumph.
He also found the net in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Manchester City in January.
The Portugal Under-21 international will now hope to force his way into Klopp's starting line-up in 2022-23 as Liverpool look to build on the cup double that they achieved last term.
