Cesc Fabregas will miss Saturday's clash against Arsenal, but Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri insists the Spaniard will not be a long-term absentee.
There is a degree of mystery surrounding Fabregas' injury, Sarri describing it as an 'unusual' injury near but not on the midfielder's knee.
But Fabregas is not expected to spend an extended period on the sidelines.
Sarri said: 'Fabregas is out for this match. I hope he will be able to be on the pitch next week.
'I'm not sure, it's nothing serious, but he has a very unusual injury. Nothing serious. I hope in the next week we will be able to have him training.
'He has a pain, not in the knee... near the knee. But not in the knee.'
The news could open the door to Mateo Kovacic to make his Blues debut following his loan arrival from Real Madrid.
