Cesc Fabregas has wished his former Chelsea team-mate Alvaro Morata good luck with the next move in his career.

Morata, who endured a difficult time at Chelsea, has signed for Atletico Madrid on an 18-month loan deal.

The move sees the striker return to Atletico, where he started out as a youngster.

Fabregas, who recently sealed a permanent switch to Monaco, took to Twitter to wish his fellow Spaniard well.

He wrote: 'Lots of luck in this new stage! You are big inside and outside. Never give up. I hope you and your family are very happy in Madrid.'

Fabregas and Morata were both part of the Chelsea squad that won the FA Cup last season.

Morata was the subject of frequent criticism while playing for Chelsea. He scored 24 goals in 72 appearances for the club.

The 26-year-old could make his debut for Atletico in Sunday's game away to Real Betis.

Fabregas, meanwhile, has featured four times so far for Monaco, who face a battle to avoid relegation from Ligue 1.
