Radamel Falcao scored his 35th goal for Colombia as he helped his side rescue a point in a 2-2 draw against Chile. 'El Tigre', currently playing his football with Galatasaray in Turkey, had only come on in the 72nd minute to replace Wilmar Barrios, but that gave him enough time to do what he still does best - find the back of the opponent's net.
Whether it be pretty or ugly, head or foot, Falcao just gets the job done in the box and his presence up front continues to be a source of danger for opponents, even at 34 years old.
It was a vital goal for Colombia that they celebrated vociferously, given they had trailed since the 41st minute to goals from Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez. And it also maintained their unbeaten status in a devilish FIFA World Cup qualifying group currently topped by Brazil and Argentina.
And it will no doubt give confidence to Carlos Queiroz's men that they were able to snatch such a result from the jaws of defeat as they embark on the rest of their campaign, which leads up to the 2022 showpiece event in Qatar. The quality of players available to Queiroz is making many to look ahead to that tournament with optimism.
The likes of James Rodriguez, Duvan Zapata, Luis Muriel, Yerry Mina and Johan Mojica form an excellent core and they are supplemented by a strong batch of talent around them, such as Falcao and Rangers' Alfredo Morelos, both of whom can have a big impact when starting or coming on from the bench.
If Colombia can maintain the determination they showed against Chile - a fine, competitive group themselves - when things were not going their way, then that will stand them in good stead for the tough tests that are to come during the qualifying campaign ahead.
