Fans blast Bruno for his 'AWFUL' penalty against Chelsea

Bruno Fernandes has been ridiculed for his penalty miss against Chelsea on Wednesday that denied Manchester United taking an early lead at Old Trafford.

The United captain was given spot-kick responsibilities after Antony was fouled in the penalty box by Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Fernandes trusted his usual hop-skip-and-jump routine in his run-up but tamely hit the ball into the right of the goal, giving Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez a simple save to make.

Sanchez had only saved one penalty in the Premier League prior to denying Fernandes, with the shot-stopper also saving James Ward-Prowse's strike from 12-yards earlier in the season.

United eventually took the lead against Chelsea through Scott McTominay's opportunistic close-range finish, but football fans weren't impressed with Fernandes' poor shot.

One onlooker commented on Twitter: 'Awful penalty from Bruno. Simple save for Sanchez'

Another added: 'Pathetic penalty by Bruno Fernandes,' after Sanchez celebrated his penalty heroics.
