FANS were left feeling sorry for Daniel Sturridge after he was left with his head in his hands on live TV in America.

The former England striker joined glamorous host Jules Breach, ex-Italy star Giorgio Chiellini and USA icon Alexi Lalas to analyse the Three Lions’ woeful draw against Denmark.

Gareth Southgate’s men drew fierce remarks from pundits back home, with the likes of Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand laying waste to last night’s performance.

But the criticism extended across the pond as Lalas tore into Southgate’s team selection.

The 96-time USA international blasted England for their struggles in Germany so far.

And his words left Sturridge ducking for cover, with the ex-Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool man covering his head in his hands.

Lalas started with a joke at the expense of pop star Justin Timberlake, who was arrested for driving while intoxicated this week.

He said: “I recognise I have a very small brain. That brain is exploding right now. To quote the great Justin Timberlake, who’s had a hell of a week, cry me a river.”

Lalas continued: “I mean, what’s the word you guys use over there? Whinging? Is that what it is? This whinging that’s going on right now is absolutely ridiculous.

“The embarrassment of talent. The wealthy of ability that exists on this team. Figure it out, alright?

“If you’re the manager and you arrive at the tournament and haven’t figured it out, that’s on you.”

Following Lalas’ blast, fans took to social media in reaction to Sturridge’s hilarious reaction.

One said: “Sturridge is all of us. Having him on US coverage is great but I’m sorry he has to deal with Alexi Lalas.”

Another declared: “Sturridge has had a mare signing that deal.”

One noted: “That’s hilarious.”

Another added: “Sturridge having that internal argument about whether the money’s worth it.”
