Fans hail Sarabia' strike against Spurs as a 'goal of the season contender'

Fans have taken to social media to heap praise on Pablo Sarabia for his stunning stoppage-time equaliser in Wolves' win over Tottenham on Saturday.

Gary O'Neil's side endured a torrid start at Molineux, as Brennan Johnson netted his first goal for an injury-hit Spurs after just three minutes to give them the lead.

The visitors dominated possession throughout much of the first half, and while Wolves remained in the game, a lack of precision in the final third saw a number of chances to level pass them by.

After the interval Wolves' momentum intensified but they were still unable to fashion an equaliser, with Ange Postecoglou's side looking set to maintain their undefeated record away from home in the Premier League this season.

With just three minutes of normal time remaining, Sarabia was brought on to replace Joao Gomes and wasted no time in leaving an impact on proceedings.

As the game entered stoppage time, the former PSG star latched onto a pass from Matheus Cunha, controlling the Brazilian's searching ball in midair before volleying beyond Guglielmo Vicario in the Spurs goal to level the game at 1-1.

Minutes later, the Spain international was again in the thick of the action, swinging a low cross to Mario Lemina who duly converted to secure three points and complete the comeback in the most dramatic of circumstances.

Following the result, supporters took to social media to wax lyrical about Sarabia's phenomenal impact on the game.

One wrote: 'Take a bow Pablo Sarabia. That left foot is a magic wand. We'll remember that volley for years to come. Form is temporary, class is permanent. What a player!'

Another added: 'Goal of the season contender right there for Sarabia. Unreal'

A further fan wrote: 'That Sarabia goal for Wolves is so disgusting … the first touch on his left was outrageous and the volley with his right equally amazing.

'All in the same sequence. Well deserved. They’ve been the better team since Spurs scored their earlier goal. Gary O’Neil is class.'

Another agreed: 'That Sarabia goal is special by the way. The control and finish was out of this world. Nothing more than Wolves deserved.'

Sarabia arrived at Molineux in January in a £4.4million deal during Julen Lopetegui's time in charge at the club, having previously worked under the manager for Spain at youth level.

In his debut campaign in the West Midlands, the Real Madrid academy graduate made just nine starts, and featured just once in their final six games as the club avoided relegation.

The 31-year-old had made just two Premier League starts this season prior to Saturday's clash, but may now play an increased role, particularly with club talisman Pedro Neto unavailable through unjury.

After securing just three points from a possible 15 at the start of the season, Wolves now sit 11th, having lost just one of their last seven Premier League games.
