Red Bull Salzburg may have lost 4-3 to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but many of their players still emerged from the game with credit.

Amongst them was Hwang Hee-Chan, with the forward having found the net in the 39th minute.

Just prior to the goal, Hwang produced an excellent piece of skill which bamboozled Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk may be one of the standout players in world football but he was caught out by Hwang.

Many observers took the opportunity to mock van Dijk, with one Twitter user writing: 'The moment Van Dijk's spirit was sent back to Southampton.'

Another added: "Dutch Phil Jones", while a Liverpool fan joked: "Wonder if Southampton will give us a refund for Van Dijk".

In addition to the criticism for van Dijk, there was also praise for Hwang, with one user writing: "Composed as anything right in front of the Kop end. Love the way he just snap generated power into the shot and it was in before we knew it."

Another added: "I've come to the conclusion that Hwang is the best attacker in the world. No one else has got close to beating Virgil van Dijk."
