Brazilian footballers are famed for their ability at free-kicks but it's an art Manchester United's Fred is clearly yet to master.
The midfielder assumed free-kick duties in the closing minutes of United's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates but his attempt on goal didn't go to plan.
From a central position, 25 yards from goal, Fred sliced his effort high over the crossbar and into the stands.
The embarrassing miss was met with a grimace by the 26-year-old and bemused looks on the faces of his own team-mates.
Fans took to social media immediately after Fred's shocking effort to mock the midfielder and express their dismay at another poor United display.
Twitter user @yusufranderee17 tweeted: 'Just saw the ball from Fred's free kick fly over my house.
Another supporter, @dannyb7107, also took to Twitter to poke fun at Fred: 'Cheers Fred just hit my dog in the garden with that free kick,' he tweeted.
Other fans assessed his free-kick in the context of his career at Old Trafford: 'That free-kick alone summed up Fred's career at Man United,' tweeted AzamWHUFC.
Meanwhile, nandenz, felt his effort summed up the game. 'Fred skies it and thus pretty much sums United up tonight. Absolutely woeful.'
United fell behind to Pepe's eighth minute goal before Sokratis Papastathopoulos doubled the Gunners' lead just before half-time.
Defeat for United leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in fifth place, five points behind Chelsea and the final Champions League qualification spot.
