Fans have taken to social media to question how Lisandro Martinez managed to escape punishment following an incident in Manchester United's defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.
After recovering from their early-season slump, United had began climbing back up the Premier League table, and had recorded five games unbeaten in the competition heading into the game at Villa Park.
However, under the stewardship of incoming boss Unai Emery for the first time, Villa were relentless against Erik ten Hag's team, going 2-0 up after just eleven minutes through Leon Bailey and Lucas Digne.
The visitors pulled one back through a Jacob Ramsey OG before the Villa youth product netted in the right goal this time to restore his side's two-goal advantage.
As the game passed the hour mark, United became evermore frustrated with their lack of success on the pitch and it showed.
During a coming together between goalscorer Bailey and Lisandro Martinez, the diminutive Argentinian appeared to throw a pair of elbows towards Bailey's stomach.
Despite the retaliatory strikes, Martinez was not reprimanded for the incident leading to fans on social media to question the lack of intervention from the officials.

Another fan questioned how the foul went unpunished with VAR: 'Neither the officials right in front of him or VAR could pick that??? That's a f-this-game-lets-rumble-man-to-man kind of tackle. What?'

The result is an unwelcome one for a United side that appeared to be finding their form under Ten Hag for the first time.
Since making the move to Old Trafford Martinez has been subjected to a variety of questions regarding his suitability playing at centre-back due to his relatively short stature for the position.
The 5ft 9in Argentina international joined United from Ten Hag's former club Ajax for a fee of £57million.
