Fans believe Kobbie Mainoo sealed the deal for Manchester United to sign Dutch star Joshua Zirkzee after England's dramatic Euro 2024 semi-final win over the Netherlands on Wednesday night.

Bologna striker Zirkzee, 23, is flying to the UK tonight ahead of a medical at United on Friday, with the Red Devils set to pay more than his £34m release clause in order to get the transfer over the line.

And eagle-eyed supporters are convinced they spotted Mainoo welcoming Zirkzee to United following England's win in Dortmund.

Alongside a picture of the pair embracing each other and smiling, one fan wrote: 'Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee after the FT whistle. He's coming!'

Mainoo delivered a brilliant performance in England's win, and some fans feel he showed he could even have a career as an agent after making a beeline for Zirkzee on Wednesday.

'No way bruh. Agent Kobbie Mainoo with Joshua Zirkzee. He can also negotiate deals. Is there anything the kid can't do?' one supporter asked.

Another fan simply added: 'Agent Kobbie Mainoo, Joshua Zirkzee,' with a handshake emoji.

One United fan was delighted that Mainoo seemingly hadn't forgotten his club loyalties even after starring for England on their run to Sunday's Euros final.

'Kobbie Mainoo with Joshua Zirkzee at full time. This dude running it in favour of United on and off the pitch, even at the Euros,' they wrote.

Zirkzee was limited to just two substitute appearances in Germany after receiving a late call-up to the Dutch squad when he was on holiday at Disneyworld.

But he had an excellent season at Bologna in 2023-24, scoring 11 goals to guide the Serie A club into the Champions League.

He is now set to move to Old Trafford to provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund up front.

He could soon be joined by a fellow Dutchman as well, with United closing in on signing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Mainoo has a Euros final to look forward to, and he is due to be the youngest player to ever start a major tournament final for England.

After a breakthrough campaign, he will then take a well-earned rest, before joining back up with the United squad, which looks likely to include Zirkzee, ahead of next season.
