Fellaini fires Shandong Luneng into last 16 of the Asian CL

Marouane Fellaini scored a late goal to give Shandong Luneng a 2-1 win over Gyeongnam FC and a spot in the last 16 of the Asian Champions League.

The Belgium international, who signed from Manchester United in February, headed in the winning goal at the far post in the 87th minute.

Gyeongnam took the lead when Kim Seung-jun scored, but Hao Junmin equalized with a free kick.

Shandong leads Group E with 11 points, while Gyeongnam is third with five with one match remaining.

Defending champion Kashima Antlers stayed in second place with seven points despite losing to Malaysian club Johor Darul Ta'zim 1-0. Syafiq Ahmed scored the only goal.

In Group F of the competition, Sanfrecce Hiroshima advanced to the last 16 after beating Guangzhou Evergrande, featuring former Barcelona man Paulinho, 1-0.

Li Xuepeng scored an own-goal in the 15th minute.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima leads the group with 12 points, while two-time champion Guangzhou is in third place with seven with one match remaining.

In the other group match, Daegu FC beat already-eliminated Melbourne Victory 4-0.
