Man City defeated Ipswich 3-2 at home in the Premier League to secure their seventh consecutive league victory. After the match, Phil Foden, who returned from suspension and scored, spoke about his feelings during his absence, the team’s performance and his goal.

Congratulations, Phil. The past month has obviously been tough for you during your suspension. How much did you enjoy being back on the pitch today?
Very, very much. I've been thinking about this moment—getting back on the pitch and enjoying football again. It's been a long time since I last played, so I had to be patient and keep training very hard. Today, I finally got my chance, and I'm really grateful to have scored and helped the team secure the three points.
A goal, a badge kiss, and a place at the top of the table. A perfect day and a perfect comeback, wouldn’t you say?
Yes, it was a perfect day. Of course, the game itself wasn't ideal. There's a lot we need to improve on, but we spoke before the match about how the most important thing today was to get the three points and put ourselves in a strong position in the league. We've done that now, so we should be proud of ourselves. We've had a brilliant start to the season, and hopefully we can continue to improve and grow.
Ipswich certainly gave you a tough test today. Several of the promoted teams have been very difficult to play against this season. To win all seven games in such a competitive Premier League is truly remarkable, isn't it?
Yes, in my opinion, the Premier League keeps getting stronger every season. Every game is tough now, no matter who you play. You have to be at your best in every match to have a chance of taking all three points. Today's game showed that—they caused us a lot of problems and were a really good team. But I think we overcame those difficulties. We stuck together, fought hard, and that ultimately paid off.
Enzo (Maresca) said earlier that you would score today. What exactly did he see in training to have such confidence in you?
I don't know what he saw, but I appreciate him saying that. I think it gave me a lot of confidence going into today's match. I'm also happy to have repaid his trust with a goal.
Thank you. Have a good evening too.
Of course I will. I'll give it to my son later.
