Former Man United flop Matteo Darmian 'set to complete £1.8m Inter Milan move

Inter Milan are reportedly on the brink of signing former Manchester United player Matteo Darmian, after agreeing a £1.8million fee with Parma.

Reports in Italy state that the former Old Trafford flop is set for a medical after the two Serie A teams struck a deal late in the transfer window.

Darmian, 30, travelled to the Humanitas clinic in Rozzano on Friday to undertake his medical before becoming Antonio Conte's latest signing, report Goal.

The move represents yet another former Premier League star brought on board by Conte, who guided Inter to a Europa League final last season and achieved a second-place finish in Serie A.

In his first transfer window Conte brought in the likes of Ashley Young, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez from United, before later taking Christian Eriksen from Tottenham and Victor Moses from Chelsea.

Darmian, who left Old Trafford for Parma just over a year ago, will link up with his former United team-mates and is expected to sign a contract running until the summer of 2024.

Meanwhile, another United player set to make a move to Italy is playmaker Andreas Pereira, who is joining Lazio.

The 24-year-old was at United’s Carrington training complex on Wednesday morning to say his farewells to team-mates and staff ahead of leaving on an initial loan with view to making the move permanent for £24.5m.

The Brazilian was reluctant to leave United but, following the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax, competition for midfield places has become even fiercer.
