Former Spurs star Jamie O'Hara has urged Dele Alli to get out of his comfort zone to continue improving as a player, and says the club need to get more out of him.
The 23-year-old vowed to make a big impact this season, and O'Hara says that Alli needs to set himself new targets to keep improving at the top level and get out of his comfort zone.
"The issue he's got is he burst on the scene, had a fantastic season and everyone was like: 'Wow!'" he told talkSPORT.
"He got in the England squad, was scoring and playing well, and everyone was looking at him to really keep going and keep kicking on, and it hasn't quite happened.
"So for me, you've got to look at him, don't cast him aside, you need to get more out of him. How do I get more out of Dele Alli as a manager and as a club?
"For me he has to start setting new targets and new goals. He probably never expected to go and play for Tottenham. He was at MK Dons, and never expected to reach the heights that he's got to so quick.
"So now he's got them goals, he's got reset to new goals and keep challenging himself and keep improving, because there's one thing you can't do in the Premier League or at any level - you know, the Championship - you can't sit in the comfort zone.
"Potentially he's still going to be one of Tottenham's best players that will be at the club for a long, long period of time.
"But they have to find a way of getting more out of him and develop him because for me he plays on the cusp of games, he's in and out too much."
