As reported by RMC Sport and others, France used their last full training session on Friday evening in Doha to focus principally on offensive and defensive set pieces, but did not do any penalty shoot-out practice, ahead of tonight’s World Cup quarter-final clash with England.

There was a particular focus on defensive and offensive corners, with Antoine Griezmann the principal taker in the latter exercise.
Other particularities from yesterday’s training session include specific instructions being given to players in terms of how they must immediately react once the ball is lost, as the France staff has identified England as a team that performs well in transition following their convincing 3-0 victory over Senegal in the Round of 16.
Les Bleus, barring any surprising last minute u-turn, will start with the same XI that beat Poland and Denmark: Lloris – Koundé, Varane, Upamecano, T.Hernandez – Tchouaméni, Rabiot, Griezmann – O.Dembélé, Giroud, Mbappé.
