Fulham hope to finalise the £1.9million signing of Wigan full back Antonee Robinson before the weekend.
The USA international came through his medical and is close to agreeing a contract worth around £45,000 a week.
Sheffield United, Newcastle and West Brom has also pursued the 23-year old.
Robinson saw a £6m move to AC Milan fall through in January owing to a heart problem but he has since returned to action and proved his fitness.
Having come within touching distance of playing alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Serie A, the blow has been softened with a move to the Premier League.
The American rose through Everton's academy before his Latics loan for the 2018-19 season became permanent last summer, making 38 appearances as a groin injury disrupted the second half of his Championship season.
Play-off wining boss Scott Parker is taking a more considered approach compared to the one Fulham took two seasons ago upon their last promotion to the top-flight.
The west London club's £100m spending spree only landing them with an immediate relegation back to the second tier in 2018-19, with Parker determined to seal a longer stay this time around.
