Fulham 'set to offer Scott Parker new £5m per year deal' after Premier League promotion

Fulham will reportedly hand boss Scott Parker a lucrative new contract after their promotion back to the Premier League.

The 39-year-old masterminded the club's play-off final heroics against Brentford on Tuesday and is set to be given a larger wage package and greater control over transfer business this summer.

According to the Daily Express, Parker will hold talks with the Fulham hierarchy over the next fortnight ahead of putting pen to paper.

The former Craven Cottage player signed a two-year deal last May following a three-month stint that ended in relegation.

Despite an upturn in form, Parker was unable to fix the damage from a disastrous season which saw both Claudio Ranieri and Slavisa Jokanovic sacked.

Left back Joe Bryan was the unlikely hero at Wembley after his two goals, including one individual moment of brilliance from a long-range set piece.

And the promotion is likely to see a notable hike in Parker's income. The ex-England international earns roughly £3million from his current deal, but that figure will reportedly imminently rise to £5m.

Parker, who will be the youngest current top flight boss after Arsenal's Mikel Arteta, has stressed the importance of avoiding another disastrous summer of spending.

The club splashed out more than £100m on new additions last year, with 12 players in total recruited. The overhaul to the promotion-winning team, however, failed to prevent Fulham from facing the drop.

Parker had been tasked with sealing Fulham's return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

After the play-off drama, the young coach admitted: 'I feel emotional. The journey you go on, the ups and downs, I'm the face that fronts it up. But behind the scenes is a support network of people that keep you going.'
