Gabby Agbonlahor SLAMS 'frustrating' Antony after an underwhelming start to his Man United career

Gabby Agbonlahor has torn into Antony's 'frustrating' Manchester United performances this season and named the club legend he would want instead.

The Brazilian has struggled since arriving at Old Trafford this season, scoring just three times in 16 appearances and failing to pick up a single assist.

He has scored all of his league goals with his preferred left foot, and the 23-year-old appears to lack confidence on his right.

Abonlahor did not hold back in his criticism of the winger, as he told talkSPORT: 'When I watch Antony I look at his stats for starters. He's played 16 Premier League games, three goals and zero assists.

'He's got zero assists because of the way he plays. I've watched him all season, I watched him against Brentford and he gets the ball and knows he can't beat the full-back on the outside, so he pretends to go on the outside, goes inside and gives it away. If you're a striker then you're frustrated.

The former Aston Villa winger, who has recently been feuding with fellow pundit Gary Neville, also named a former player he would want to play ahead of Antony.

'I would swap him, any day of the week, for Antonio Valencia,' he said.

'His first season at Manchester United he got seven goals and 13 assists. The season after, six goals and 16 assists, then he went to right-back.

'That's a winger who used to get the ball, a little step-over, pace and power and clip it in. Strikers knew when it was coming in.'

On the difference with United's current right winger, Agbonlahor added:  'Antony gets it and does his little tricks.

'He takes the ball, does a little shimmy and the defender is just stood there, like 'go on then, take me on'.'

Despite Antony failing to hit his stride this season, United could still finish the season having secured Champions League football and won the treble.

They currently sat three points clear of fifth place Tottenham with a game in hand, and are still fighting in the FA Cup and Europa League.

Erik ten Hag's side will next be in action against Everton on Saturday before facing Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League quarter final on Thursday.
