Tonight's quarter-final is a landmark fixture for Gareth Southgate and his assistant manager Steve Holland. They are set to reach the milestone of 100 matches.

Take a look back over their spell, which began when he was named as interim head coach back in October 2016, with some of the key numbers from his reign.

- Southgate will become the third manager to reach 100 games after Walter Winterbottom (139) and Sir Alf Ramsey (113), becoming the first to reach the milestone since Sir Alf Ramsey in 1972, which was a 1-0 win over Wales.

- He holds the record as the man who has represented England in more games than anyone else, with 99 games as senior team manager, 57 caps as a player and 37 as men's under-21 head coach, leading to a total of 193 games in which he has been involved as a player or coach. Holland was his assistant with both the MU21s and seniors.

- During his 99 games so far, Gareth has 60 wins, 23 draws and 16 defeats, scoring 209 goals and conceding 68. In comparison, after 100 games, Ramsey had 63 wins, 23 draws and 14 defeats and Winterbottom had 59 wins, 23 draws and 18 defeats.

- Under Southgate, England are the only team in Europe to have reached the quarter-finals of the last four major tournaments (FIFA World Cup 2018, UEFA EURO 2020, FIFA World Cup 2022 and UEFA EURO 2024)

- Gareth has the record of being in charge of most England games during major tournaments with 23 so far, ahead of Sir Bobby Robson (15), Sven-Goran Eriksson and Walter Winterbottom (both 14) and Sir Alf Ramsey (12). Only Sir Alf Ramsey has a higher win percentage at 66.7% from his 12 games.

- England's appearance at the UEFA EURO 2020 Final was the first time the nation had reached a major tournament final since the FIFA World Cup of 1966, while their 2018 World Cup performance in Russia was the first time England had reached the semi-final stage since 1990.

- With a win percentage of 60.6%, Gareth stands fourth in the all-time England manager records, although Glenn Hoddle in third (60.7%) and Fabio Capello in first (66.7%) managed in 28 and 42 games respectively. Alf Ramsey in second had a win percentage of 61.1% from his 113 games.

- Gareth is seventh in the list of European managers to have taken charge of most major tournament games, which is topped by Jogi Low (38), Didier Deschamps (34), Helmut Schon (29), Fernando Santos (28), Guus Hiddink (27) and Lars Lagerback (26).

- The five players to have featured most under Gareth are Harry Kane (78), Kyle Walker (67), John Stones (65), Jordan Pickford (65) and Harry Maguire (63).

- The five top goalscorers under Gareth are Kane (60), Raheem Sterling (18), Marcus Rashford (16), Bukayo Saka (11) and Harry Maguire (seven).

They will lead England against Switzerland, striving to defeat their opponents and advance to the semi-finals.

However, Switzerland's Xhaka stated that they will not make any excuses for their performance, which will greatly inspire the Swiss team to continue their underdog journey. England's performance will determine whether Southgate's team can celebrate today. Fans, stay tuned.
