Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink came to blows over whether Arsenal finishing second would be a 'disaster' for the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta's side threw away more points in the title race on Saturday as they threw away a 2-0 lead over West Ham to draw 2-2 at the London Stadium.
It's the second week in a row they have done so having drawn 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield last week, cutting their lead to four points over Manchester City who have a game in hand.
The Gunners have led the Premier League for the majority of the season, but City are now hot on their heels with the clash between the two sides on April 6 a huge game in the race to lift the title.
Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, insisted that finishing second in the table would still signify a successful season for United, though Keane and Hasselbaink strongly disagreed with the former Manchester United defender.
'This title race always started at Anfield,' Neville began. 'Look at the fixtures.
'But they would have snapped your hand off to be in this position at the start of the season. Arsenal finishing second would still be an unbelievable season.'
Keane interrupted: 'No chance. They’ve been top of the table all season.'
Hasselbaink supported Keane, arguing: 'Everyone will get stronger next year. They might not be in this position. It would be a disaster.
Keane added: 'It would be a terrible season. They’re out of every cup competition. 2-0 up this week, 2-0 up today. It’s a huge disappointment.'
Neville did his best to reiterate that not winning the league title would still be a disappointment for the north London club.
The pundit infamously predicted City to catch Arsenal weeks ago, and admitted that he expects that still to happen in the run in.
'That was a wobble today,' he said. 'But you will always have that on your way to the first title.
'They struggled to get over the lien last season. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did the same this year. Arsenal not finishing in the top four is huge, this isn't.'
Keane and Hasselbaink suggested they would rather be in Manchester City's camp with just a matter of games remaining until the end of the season.
Arsenal have seven games to play to City's eight. They will play one extra next week against basement side Southampton, while City are in FA Cup action.
The Gunners also still have to face European contenders Newcastle and Brighton.
'I’d rather be in the Man City dressing room with their experience,' Keane said. 'They’ve been in this before. They have the composure and experience.'
Hasselbaink added: 'Me as well. I think when you are Man City and under pressure they perform, they get the job done. They can go the season keep on winning. Arsenal still have to go to Newcastle too.
'You are not allowed to lose points today. This will hurt more than losing to Man City. The beginning of the season doesn't matter. To lose is now would be a disaster.'
