Gary Neville lost a penalty shoot-out bet with Jamie Carragher and must wear a Liverpool shirt with 'Shaqiri 23' on the back as a result.

The Sky Sports pundits went head-to-head from 12 yards on the 'Premier League Launch Show' on Tuesday.

Carragher resumed his role as a football pundit for Sky Sports after his suspension for spitting at a car was lifted by the broadcaster.

Before stepping up to take the spot-kick with his colleague in goal, Neville asked: 'What's the bet by the way? There's got to be something on this.

Carragher replied: 'Get you a better shirt'.

Neville said: 'You've got to wear a United shirt or I've got to wear a Liverpool shirt when you've felt your way back in in a show in a few weeks.'

Carragher guessed correctly, saving Neville's right-footed effort towards the right-hand side of the goal with his body.

As Neville held his head in his hands, Carragher said: 'Please score this please, has anyone got a Liverpool shirt now?'

The former Liverpool defender then stepped up to seal the win and sent the ex-United defender the wrong way.

Carragher turned to the camera and said: 'That's a Liverpool shirt, I'll buy it.

'23 Carragher on the back. No I'll tell you what we'll get 23 Shaqiri on the back.

'He hates Shaqiri doesn't he? You've been very nasty about Shaqiri.'

Neville responded: 'I like Shaqiri, I didn't like his comments against Stoke but I like him.'

Carragher responded: 'OK, I'll get him to get you a signed shirt.'

Neville called the Switzerland international 'unprofessional' and admitted he was not a fan of the winger during the World Cup.

He also hit back at Liverpool fans who mocked his criticism of Shaqiri with: 'I hope you lot are going to message me every time you see him stood on the halfway line whilst your team are being attacked! Oh and he needs Ronaldinho playing with him.'
