Pierluigi Casiraghi has revealed a hilarious prank Paul Gascoigne pulled on Lazio coach Zdenek Zeman.

The former England international was playing in Serie A at the time alongside Casiraghi.

Casiraghi told Sky Sports Italia: 'Zeman always had this whistle that he really liked to use in training.

'One day, it disappeared after a session. After a while, a goose waddled past with the whistle around its neck, as Gascoigne had put it there.'

Casiraghi also explained what it was like being around Gazza in the 1990s.

'Gazza was a great player, but unlucky with his many injuries. He also had some weaknesses that he struggled with, such as his dependence on alcohol.

'We tried to help him, but when an issue is that personal, you need the strength to get out of it yourself too.'

Gascoigne revealed in January that he is the happiest he has been for 'years' after spending £20,000 to have anti-boozing pellets puts into his stomach to stop him drinking.

The former England star has blown his £20million fortune from his playing career and gone in and out of rehab because of alcohol-related problems since retiring.
