Genoa have released a special edition Lotto jersey to mark the 125th anniversary of the club’s foundation, making it the oldest in Italy.
The Grifone was formed by a group of English ex-pats in an apartment in Via Palestro on September 7, 1893.
It was called Genoa Cricket and Athletic Club, the name that it still holds today, and remains Italy’s oldest football club.
Lotto and Genoa today unveiled a special edition jersey to celebrate the anniversary and it includes the date ‘7 Settembre 1893-2018’ along with the Scudetto symbol and a British flag.
A commemorative stamp has also been printed, but events planned to celebrate have been postponed as a mark of respect after the Ponte Morandi tragedy, as the bridge collapse killed 43 people and left hundreds homeless.
