In the 7th round of the English Premier League, Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at home, and Grealish completed the shutout in the 93rd minute and won the Player of the Match award. After the match, Grealish accepted an interview with Sky Sports.
Grealish said: "This is what you want to do as a winger, I now have one goal and four assists in the Premier League this season. It was difficult to do that today against such a good team who have incredible players. Adam Wharton today ...... I saw the man of the match award there. I think it was for me. But it should have belonged to Adam Wharton because in my opinion he was the best player on the field." After being formally presented with the award, a beaming Grealish added: "Thanks, it's the third one this season so we'll take it."
Despite his resurgence in form, the loanee from Manchester City fell out of Tuchel's latest England squad. Speaking about the drop, Grealish said, "First and foremost it's our job to play well for the club. Of course, I am also eager to be selected for the England team. I understand the decision. After talking to the manager, I understand that there is a lot of competition, especially on the left wing. Rashford is in hot form, Eze, Gordon, they are all doing well. I have nothing to complain about, it is what it is. Hopefully I can keep my form and continue to play in games." Tuchel emphasised when announcing the list that he had nothing against Grealish, adding, "Jack understands, I am aware of his importance to Everton and he is gradually getting back to his best form."
