We’ve reached the end of November and that means the poll is now open for Manchester United’s Player of the Month.
After a month which saw Man Utd secure their place in the last 32 of the Europa League and record an impressive 3-1 home Premier League win over Brighton and Hove Albion, the following three players have been nominated for the Red Devils:
Mason Greenwood – 5 appearances, 2 goals
Greenwood was one of only two United players – along with Jesse Lingard – to feature in all five Utd games in November, and he got the month off to a fantastic start by firing home the opening goal in a convincing 3-0 win over Partizan Belgrade.
The youngster later showed his grit and determination to chase down a clearance which led to Anthony Martial’s second, and was recognised as United’s Man of the Match as they confirmed qualification from Europa League Group L.
A first-ever Premier League strike followed a fortnight later in the 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane, with the teenager’s 73rd-minute introduction helping launch United’s late fightback.
Marcus Rashford – 4 appearances, 3 goals
Man Utd's no.10 picked up where he left off in October, laying on Greenwood’s goal against Partizan before adding to the scoreline with a fine left-footed strike himself early in the second half.
Three days later, the 22-year-old netted for the third consecutive game at Old Trafford, driving a shot in off the crossbar to kill off Brighton’s brief hopes of a revival.
After the international break, during which he took his England tally into double figures, Rashford provided a sumptuous, measured assist for Greenwood’s equaliser against the Blades, before putting United in front with a cool finish at the end of a slick counter-attacking move.
Brandon Williams – 3 appearances, 1 goal
With captain Ashley Young suspended for the visit of the Seagulls, Williams was named in a Premier League starting line-up for the first time, and the confident teenager made a huge impression as he was named Man Utd's Man of the Match.
He retained his place a fortnight later for the trip to Sheffield and, after a difficult first hour for the Red Devils, sparked the memorable revival, meeting a failed clearance on the half-volley to leave Blades’ goalkeeper Simon Moore rooted to the spot.
It was a true striker’s finish from the left-back, although he made it clear that there was no time for celebration, running straight back to the centre circle after scoring as United began the fightback.
Good luck to all of the nominees!
The result will be announced on Sunday, in the build-up to Man Utd's Premier League game against Aston Villa at home.
