Pep Guardiola has asked Jurgen Klopp if he fancies swapping Liverpool's Champions League trophy for Man City's Premier League winning prize.

The Spaniard was speaking at the Football Writers' Awards in Manchester on Sunday night after being recognised for his achievements with the Blues last season. Klopp, also present, was celebrated for guiding Liverpool to European glory over Spurs in the summer.

Both managers have won silverware the other is desperate to clinch at their respective clubs - and Guardiola rather cheekily suggested the two could swap trophies.

"What I am proud of most is the fact, absolutely the [Premier League title] win of course, but after the win I know peoples of the teams drop and we were able to after 100 points be there week in week out," said the City boss.

"I told him many times to Jurgen and his team I was lucky, incredibly lucky to be in Barcelona with an incredible career, in my hometown, the club of my heart and play the way we played. In Germany with Jurgen also.

"We won a lot of leagues, I'm sorry guys, but I think last season was the most difficult one for the contender, the quality they have.

"Always it's difficult, always I learn to play against Jurgen teams.

"But I would like to win my trophy [nods towards Champions League trophy].

"I'm pretty sure he [Klopp] would like to win mine [points towards Premier League trophy].

"Maybe we can swap?"
