According to ESPN Brazil, Bruno Guimaraes admitted in an interview that his recent penalty performance has been unsatisfactory and that he needs to change his penalty-taking method. The Brazil midfielder stated that he is humble enough to admit the problem and will learn from his mistakes through more training.

In this year's World Cup Round of 16 match between Brazil and Norway, Bruno Guimaraes was awarded a penalty kick, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Nyland. Brazil ultimately lost 1-2 and failed to advance. Later, in Arsenal's League Cup match against League Two side Fleetwood, he missed a penalty in the shootout, leading to his team's elimination. Notably, the direction and height of these two penalty shots were very similar, both aimed at the goalkeeper's left side, halfway up the goal.

Bruno Guimaraes stated in an exclusive interview with ESPN: "I've been trying to take penalties the same way, at the World Cup and here. I've realized that this method doesn't work. I'm humble enough to admit that I need to improve and that I must change the way I take penalties."

He further added: "But one thing is clear to me: these things won't affect my ability as a player, nor will they change me as a person. Before the World Cup, my penalty performance was always good, but in recent times I haven't been able to perform as I should. This is an area I need to work hard to improve, and I must try different training methods. Challenges won't stop, and if I let this affect me, it will only make things worse. I have to turn things around, learn from my mistakes, and mature. I've decided I can't keep using the same penalty-taking method as before."

When asked how he plans to adjust his form, Bruno Guimaraes revealed that he practices penalties three to four times a day: "I want to be ready for the next opportunity, and if a similar situation happens again, I don't want to disappoint my teammates. Messi also missed a penalty at the World Cup; of course, we don't want that to happen to us. What I need to do is train harder and make sure I seize the next opportunity and don't waste it again."
