Erling Haaland has chosen Chelsea manager Frank Lampard as the retired football he'd most like to play with and Virgil van Dijk as his toughest opponent...

The striker burst on to the European stage this season after his impressive form for Red Bull Salzburg earned him a £17million transfer to Borussia Dortmund in January.

He had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and although he has only recently signed for the Bundesliga side, several teams across Europe are keeping a close eye on his development.

And the 19-year-old has got Chelsea fans excited with one of his answers in a Q&A with ESPN on Instagram.

The striker was asked which retired player he would most like to play with and after giving himself some thinking time, he replied: 'Frank Lampard.'

The Blues' manager is the club's all-time leading scorer with an incredible 211 goals from midfield.

A few Chelsea fans commented on the video claiming that the forward could be on his way to Stamford Bridge in the future.

One claimed: 'Haaland coming to a Chelsea confirmed,' while another said: 'Chelsea double swoop for Sancho and Haaland.'

The Norwegian recently admitted the Bundesliga side were 'lucky' to have England international Sancho who is also linked with a move to several Premier League and LaLiga sides.

The striker opted for Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk when asked to select his toughest opponent.

Haaland faced the Dutchman twice during the Champions League group stages while still with Salzburg earlier this season.

When asked who he would bet on winning the Ballon d'Or in 2025, he decided not to choose himself and selected Barcelona's Lionel Messi who has already won the award a record six times.
