Haaland's World Cup jersey to feature "Braut-Haaland" surname

Haaland's jersey in the FIFA World Cup will be different from his club jersey; in addition to his and his father's surname Haaland, his mother's surname will also be printed on it.

Haaland has "changed his surname," at least on his Norway national team jersey, where his back print will be "Braut-Haaland." He has adopted this choice in recent national team matches, which is also related to Norwegian tradition—it is common there to use both parents' surnames.

For many years, Manchester City striker Haaland only used his father Alf-Haaland's surname; his father was also a professional footballer. However, starting last summer, Haaland decided to add "Braut," which is the surname of his mother Gry Marita Braut, who was a heptathlon champion.

After adopting the double surname, Haaland has scored 13 goals in the last 5 World Cup qualifiers, including a brace in the 4-1 victory over Italy at San Siro and five goals at home against Moldova. Now, "Braut-Haaland" will also appear on the FIFA World Cup stage.
