Harry Kane’s record against Arsenal: goals, appearances, wins

  /  autty

In his first season since leaving Tottenham, Bayern Munich striker Kane faces Spurs’ arch rivals in the Champions League quarter-finals.

A striker in stellar scoring form for Bayern Munich, Harry Kane now returns to North London to face Arsenal, a club who were among his favourite victims during his time at Tottenham.

How many goals has Kane scored against Arsenal?

In his 19 appearances for Spurs against their arch rivals, Kane netted 14 times. According to Opta, only two clubs - Leicester City and Everton - have conceded more goals to the England captain than Arsenal.

What’s more, Opta notes, the 30-year-old’s five career goals at the Emirates Stadium are the joint-most by a visiting player at the ground, matched only by Diogo Jota and Jamie Vardy.

Tuchel backs “motivated” Kane to hurt Arsenal

Speaking ahead of today’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against the Gunners, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel backed Kane - who has hit 38 goals in his first season in Germany - to respond to a hostile Emirates reception by adding to his total at the stadium.

“He has thrived on [the Arsenal fans’ taunts] many times now so I don’t think he will stop tomorrow,” Tuchel told his pre-match press conference yesterday. “I think it’s very enjoyable for Harry to be here against Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Champions League. I think it will make him very happy to score. I don’t see anything holding him back. I feel he is very motivated.”

What is Kane’s win record at the Emirates?

Despite his record scoring figures at the Emirates, however, Kane has rarely tasted victory on the road against Arsenal. In his nine Tottenham appearances away to the Gunners, indeed, he was on the losing side five times and didn’t win once in the Premier League. His only victory at the Emirates came in the EFL Cup.

Bookies not backing Bayern

Bayern, who head into today’s game in poor form, are not fancied to improve Kane’s win ratio at the Emirates.

The Bavarians, whose German title hopes are all but over after back-to-back Bundesliga defeats, are priced at around +380 to +400 to claim victory in the first leg against Arsenal, per Oddschecker (meaning that a $100 bet wins you between $380 and $400). The hosts, on other hand, are valued at about -150 to win the opening leg (a $145/$150 bet wins you $100).

Opta’s ‘supercomputer’ agrees with the bookies. It gives Bayern only a 24.1% chance of victory in North London, compared to Arsenal’s 51.5%.
